Second Uncle was so popular that some of the audience sent messages to Tang urging him to start live streaming on short video platforms."What do you expect Second Uncle to do? But under a Zhihu post "How do you see Zhou Zuoluo?", the hottest answer denounced his unfair ignorance of the small and medium enterprises suffering during the Covid-19 Pandemic, not to mention his white elephant online courses. Zhou Zuoluo posted a WeChat article Second Uncle Made a Hit! A Sentence Under the Bed Moved Countless People adapting the video into a text version just after Tang’s response on Sina Weibo. Though Zhou’s article included the response, it still heated up the topic of Second Uncle more, which was contrary to Tang’s wish.
As you might have "foreseen", within a short time, the video of Second Uncle fell victim to numerous cyber rumors. The authenticity of the story was the first to be doubted. In the story, Second Uncle failed to apply a disability certificate for an unknown reason. But as the Redstar News reported on 29th July, they interviewed the local cadres, who said the disability certificates had been already applied back to 1990. The Cover News, City News, and The Paper all sent reporters to the village where Second Uncle lived and proved that the second uncle was not Tang’s but his wife’s.On 31st July, the Phoenix Weekly even posted a Weibo reporting that the video had been canceled feed on Bilibili. But it was the post that got canceled in no time because every Bilibili user could easily check the fact by clicking a few buttons. To Tang’s sadness, his favourite science writer 方舟子 Fang Shimin when he was young also joined the army of doubting Second Uncle’s existence. Zhou Zuoluo, on 1st August, gathered these rumors in another WeChat article Second Uncle Took a Hit! On 27th July, VMZ, a radical leftist influencer supporting the establishment, uploaded a video Your Second Uncle is Not My uncle: Unrelentingly Against Cultural Bourgeois Ideology Infiltration as Primitiveness on Bilibili.In this video, the most popular and controversial leftist leader in China questioned Tang why he chose the idiom 庄敬自强 "solemn self-improvement" as the video’s keyword.Didn’t he know it was a slogan used by the ROC regime in Taiwan when their delegates in the UN were replaced by the PRC’s in 1971? Under the Zhihu post "How do you see How second uncle cured my mental friction uploaded by Yige Hypothesis?",飞鸣镝 Twanging Arrow, another radical leftist influencer against the establishment argued "The video distorts the fact that alienated people are forced not to express their suffering under capitalism and conceals the inequality by replacing Second Uncle in the flesh with Second Uncle as a symbol of suffering.
